该科为青岛市特色专科、青岛市微创脊柱外科中心。在省内率先应用椎间盘镜开展微创技术摘除髓核治疗颈、腰椎间盘突出症，治愈率97%；开展胸腔镜辅助下脊柱前路微创手术治疗胸椎结核、转移性肿瘤、胸椎间盘突出症以及胸、腰椎骨折等高新微创技术，达国内领先水平。
学科带头人彭明，主任医师、教授。擅长脊柱脊髓疾病与损伤、微创脊柱外科的手术治疗。《胸腔镜技术在胸椎前路手术的临床应用研究》获青岛市科技进步二等奖，并被山东省卫生厅列为2005年山东省医药卫生科技成果五年百项推广项目。《MED在脊柱外科手术中的应用研究》已通过专家鉴定达到国内领先水平。

surgery center in Qingdao, the department has taken the lead in
using diskoscope to develop minimal invasive extirpation of
nucleus pulposuses in treating cervical or lubar intervertebral
disc protrusion, with a healing rate of 97%. In addition, the
department has developed thoracoscopic spinal anterior minimal
invasive approaches to treat tuberculosis of thoracic vertebra,
metastatic tumors, thoracic intervertebral disc protrusion, and
fracture of thoracic vertebraes or lumbar vertebraes. These
sophisticated new technologies have reached the leading level in
China.

Peng
Ming, Chief Physician, Professor, Dr. Peng is an expert in the
surgical treatment of diseases and wounds of the spinal cord or
column, and minimal invasive spinal surgery. His "Study on the
Clinical Application of Thoracoscope to Anterior Approach of
Thoracic Vertebraes" received a second prize of Qingdao for
scientific and technological progress and was listed by the
Shandong Provincial Health Department as one of the hundred
popularization projects for the next five years in 2005. His
"Research on the Application of MED to Spinal Surgery" has
passed expert appraisal as having reached the advanced level in
